HISTORY Entrepreneur and Rock personality Scott Davidson teamed up with Kent Gustafson, CEO of Polnet Communications July 10th, 1994. Scott was already an established Dj in the Chicago market and played drums for several successful band projects. His vision was a radio concept where METAL is the core of the music played. They wanted to reach a captive audience, adults 18-54 in Illinois and Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan, who are passionate about music. Instead of the 'cookie cutter' formats found across the radio dial, they wanted their station to stand out from everyone else, featuring music that sells in the millions, but, does not receive enough airplay on traditional radio stations. Some "Active Rock' stations might play harder-edged material late at night, but Scott and Kent believed that the music needs to be hard throughout the day, including the important morning and evening 'drive times'. While other stations may be talking in the morning, AM 1500 WPJX is rocking! TODAY Over 15 years later, Rebel Radio is standing alone in giving the local Metal Upstarts a place to call home with the signature "Home Grown" Show hosted by Scott himself. Listeners participation is also a big part of Rebel Radio. Each weekday afternoon during Scott Davidson's show, listeners can expect the opportunity to call in and win CD's, tickets to major concerts around Chicago and Milwaukee. Scott has even given away several electric guitars on his WPJX show. On a regular basis, you will hear Scott interview the biggest names in hard rick today. Bands new and old, Scott is the only radio personality in Illinois and Wisconsin that is talking to them. The city of license is Zion, IL. Unlike other broadcasting companies. Rebel Radio is also hear on WKTA 1330 AM Sunday's 4pm - 8pm licensed in Evanston, IL - Chicago. The transmitter is in Northbrook, IL with six towers. WKTA format is Multicultural & Rock with a target audience of Adults 18-54.
